Optimization settings

On the Optimization tab of the settings dialog you can set disk optimization depth, file sorting key and order. Also you can select files to place to the fastest disk sectors and exclude big files from the optimization process, which does make sense as sorting of big files does not improve system performace under most circumstances.

You can sort files by path, by size, by the creation time, by the last modification time or by the last access time either in ascending or descending order.

By default the program sorts files by path in ascending order and skips all files bigger than 20 MB.

Also by default UltraDefrag places Windows boot, hibernation and paging files to the very beginning of the disk, i.e. to the fastest disk sectors. This results in faster boot times, a quicker wake-up from hibernation and smoother multitasking.

Feel free to place your favorite apps to the fastest disk sectors as well to speed them up!
